“Close, but no cigar is a common saying signifying someone nearly achieved something – but ultimately failed, in the end. Ever wonder where the saying originated? Well, in the 1920’s, travelling carnivals made their way into towns and cities across North America. The games they offered were targeted towards adults and were well-known to be particularly hard to win – but people tried anyhow. Those who managed to win did not receive stuffed animals. Rather, cigars were handed out as prizes. When a player failed to toss a ring over a bottle or a ball missed its target, the person running the game would say … “Close, but no cigar!” What does that have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role? Absolutely nothing!

That said, while you’re here, we’d like to tell you about another role Janna French is working on. She is looking for an Account Executive in the Transportation industry in Calgary! POSITION:    ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE INDUSTRY:    TRANSPORTATION (TL + LTL) TERRITORY:   CALGARY (WFH OFFICE) RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Grow & develop existing share of wallet + current spend with new and existing clientele

  2. Procure lasting partnerships with clientele and act as a key ambassador of the company

  3. Educate and advise customers using a thorough knowledge of the domestic LTL/Intermodal marketspace including the vast competitive landscape, market challenges & trends

  4. Collaborate with Operations Team to launch, enhance & maximize both new & existing business models

  5. Collaborate with assigned SDR to ensure optimal prospecting and lead generation strategies / tactics


  1. 3+ years’ experience in an outside sales / territory position

  2. Extensive knowledge of the current transportation logistics industry​ including, LTL + Intermodal + TL

  3. Energetic and driven sales pro with impeccable time management and communication skill sets

  4. Previous account management experience

  5. Collaborative team player + self-motivated + ability to think “outside of the box” + sales “hunter” mindset

  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite


BASE SALARY: $80,000 – $90,000 ON-TARGET VARIABLE: $14,000 – $16,000 (uncapped) ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $94,000 – $106,000 OTHER: benefits + vacation
