This is a great entry level role for someone who is interested in growing within the accounting field! Our client is open to recent graduates as well as those with 1 or 2 years of experience.
Over more than 3 decades, our client has established themselves as one of Hamilton’s leading accounting firms. They’re busier than a house on fire and need an Accounting Technician to help manage their workload. You’ll be busy, you’ll learn a lot – and you’ll have a genuine opportunity to grow within the firm. Bottom line: they take care of the employees who take care of them – your effort will not go unnoticed! POSITION: ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN LOCATION: HAMILTON INDUSTRY: ACCOUNTING RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Provide day-to-day accounting support to a broad range of small business clients
§ Prepare and assist with corporate tax returns and financial statements
§ Create specialized financial reports
§ Assist with CRA reviews and government subsidy programs (e.g., CEWS, CEBA, CERS)
§ Handle external filings such as T4s, T5s, and EHT returns and maintain professional standards
§ Investigate and correct discrepancies/irregularities in client financial entries, documents, and reports
§ Communicate with clients and attend training to improve accounting knowledge
§ No experience necessary – as the firm is willing to train the right individual
§ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, (or equivalent diploma or experience)
§ Proficiency in QuickBooks (desktop and online) and TaxPrep or similar tax program – (preferred)
§ Some familiarity with full-cycle bookkeeping and an understanding of accounting principles
§ Strong time and task management skills
§ Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and external contacts
BASE SALARY: $45,000 – $55,000 OTHER: benefits + rrsp program + flexible work arrangements + vacation
