STEAL OF A DEAL



On March 30, 1867, Russia and the USA finalized a doozey of a real estate deal, with USA agreeing to purchase the territory of Alaska. Given the geography, you may wonder if Canada was considered as a viable option to bid on this transaction. Well, it wasn’t. At the time, Canada was still a colony of Great Britain. And while the two territories shared a border, Russia and Great Britain were bitter rivals. Russia wouldn’t even consider the notion. In the end, Russia sold 600,000 square miles of land to the USA for a paltry $7.2 million. To put the magnitude of this transaction in perspective, Alaska is 20% of the size of the entire Lower 48 states! If you ‘do the math’, that’s 2 cents per acre.


Over the next 50 years, the USA earned 100 times what they had invested into the purchase of Alaska!

That said, while you’re here, Janna French is looking for 2 experienced transportation sales professionals (in Burnaby and Hamilton) to sell 3PL, transportation and logistics solutions.

POSITION: DIRECTOR, SALES (INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTOR) LOCATION: BURNABY, BC & HAMILTON, ON INDUSTRY: LOGISTICS + TRANSPORTATION (OTR) SUMMARY OF ROLE


The Director of Sales position is an individual contributor role and will join our client's growing Over The Road (OTR) Department. The successful candidate will pursue and close new business via various sales strategies utilizing their strongest skill sets.


This company offers a wide variety of products including Air, Ocean, Customs Brokerage, Warehousing, Cross-Border, Intermodal, & OTR (LTL, FTL). In this role, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of professionals to promote logistics and technology solutions for clients. RESPONSIBILITIES


· Develop new and prospective customers while maintaining existing account client base

· Assist in preparation and negotiation of bids, RFQs & quotations with clients, suppliers + OTR agents

· Assist with sales campaigns and events

· Plan + manage personal business portfolio/territory according to agreed market strategy

· Client management via established tools to achieve (and hopefully) exceed monthly sales quota


REQUIREMENTS


· 3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar position / industry

· Proven track record in sales in transportation/logistics (3PL preferred)

· Excellent verbal + written communication skills

· Self-motivated, driven and disciplined + outgoing personality + able to pivot in a fast-paced environment

· 3+ years’ experience managing a team – REQUIRED

· 3+ years’ experience working with C-suite, an asset


REMUNERATION


BASE SALARY + COMMISSION: flexible, attractive and dependent on experience level
