102 years ago, the Purity Distilling Company was located at 529 Commercial Street in Boston, Massachusetts.It was at this location that the company installed a molasses tank, standing 15 meters tall by 27 meters wide.

It held 8.7 million litres of molasses.


Before we get to the story, you should know that fermented molasses produces ethanol.

Ethanol is the active ingredient in alcoholic beverages and a key component in the manufacture of ammunition.


On January 14, 1919, a ship delivered a fresh, new load of molasses, which was heated to simplify the transfer into the tank.


The following day, shortly after noon, and likely due to thermal expansion of the older, cold molasses, the massive tank exploded!


Witnesses reported feeling the ground shake and hearing ‘a thunderclap-like bang!’ – followed by machine gun-like sounds – as rivets shot out of the tank.


The explosion caused a wave of molasses to surge through the streets at over 50 km/h, sadly killing 21 people and injuring 150.What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?

Reporting to the VP, Sales, the National Account Executive will communicate and sell value, for one-of-a-kind, custom-tailored, logistics solutions to new clients in the retail space – across the GTA.  Our client’s solution is ‘untapped’ by their competitors and completely unique in the logistics and supply chain space.  This candidate will have the autonomy to build an outstanding portfolio of new clients!




·       Prospect new clients in Retail Industry, research customer value statements + create / present customized solutions.

·       Achieve growth within established existing account base through up-selling + cross-selling opportunities.

·       Effectively communicate company’s key differences (-vs- ‘big guy’ competitors) and SELL VALUE.

·       Conduct client meetings + presentations, ranging from fact-finding to closing deals.

·       Secure new business across the GTA, with a focus on large, national clients with a brick-and-mortar presence in the area.

·       Strategically identify + recognize key opportunities and present value-based solutions.

·       Generate new business and manage full sales cycle in both new and existing account base.

·       Keep up-to-date data and effectively report on opportunities through company’s CRM.




·       3+ years’ experience in a consultative, B2B sales role.

·       Ability to HUNT new business and sell value!

·       Ability to build rapport and expand existing book of business.

·       Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

·       A go-getter who is self-motivated while still working in a collaborative team environment.

·       Experience in Transportation & Logistics industry (or experience selling into multi-location retail accounts)



BASE SALARY: $85,000 – $90,000

ON-TARGET VARIABLE: $30,000+ (uncapped)

ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $115,000 – $120,000
