
On February 10, 1840, Queen Victoria married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The ceremony took place at St. James Palace, marking the first marriage of a reigning English Queen since Queen Mary, in 1554. English aristocrats were outraged – but you’ll be surprised by the source of that rage. Now, Victoria’s mother and Prince Albert’s father, happened to be brother and sister (making the couple first cousins) – but that wasn’t a big deal, at all! The indignation was fueled by something more ominous – the bride’s audacity to wear a white wedding gown! You see, royal wedding gowns were usually red, and the colour white symbolized mourning. Soon after, the white wedding gown gained increasing popularity. Sidenote: Queen Victoria wasn’t the first royal to wear a white wedding dress – that claim falls to Princess Philippa of England, in 1406 (and Mary Queen of Scots, in 1558)! What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role? Nothing, really. While you’re ‘here’, Jeanne Agius is looking for a Director, Digital Marketing to join our client’s Toronto team. The role will lead a mix of direct content creation, web development, social media, and promotional activities.
The position will be responsible for 2-3 direct reports and is a fully on-site role. POSITION: DIRECTOR, DIGITAL MARKETING LOCATION: TORONTO, ONTARIO INDUSTRY: LUXURY DESIGN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and manage the annual digital marketing strategy and plan
Ensure consistency across all brand touchpoints
Guide website feature development, website content, and merchandising across all brands
Strong understanding of digital development – including content and merchandising
Manage various platforms including social media + asset management tools
Define, prioritize, and implement new features and functionality across all digital assets
Optimize external digital platform performance – including Artsy + First Dibs
Identify + promote technologies to support digital growth and development
Manage SEO + SEM + Social Ads + AdWords
Format content for digital promotions including email + social advertising
Analyze + interpret data to measure impact and create reporting systems for brand + brand partnerships
Collaborate with partners to implement content including copywriting + photography + blog posts + video
Develop insights + strategies based on a deep understanding of our clients and competition, to drive business through web-based platforms
Work with sales and support teams, and internal creative team + externally with vendors, partners + clients
Lead digital marketing team (Performance Management + Coaching + Day-to-Day support
Implement Social Media strategy, ensuring alignment + consistency across platforms, including Instagram, Pinterest, Little Red Book, and WeChat
Consistent platform and content optimization
REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate degree or diploma
5+ years of relevant experience
Portfolio of writing samples
Demonstrated knowledge of design industry + relationships with media
Conversant in UX/UI
Strong organization and planning + proven ability to lead a team + passion for design
French, German, Mandarin, or another second language, an asset
REMUNERATION:
