On March 24, 1944, Flight Sergeant Nicholas Stephen Alkemade, a rear gunner aboard a Lancaster bomber, was returning from a bombing mission over Germany. His plane was hit, erupted in flames, and his parachute was destroyed in the inferno. Flames everywhere. Parachute destroyed. So, he jumped.

No chute. Just sky. 18,000 feet.

 

He crashed through pine trees.

Landed in deep snow. No broken bones.

Alive!

 

The Germans who captured him didn’t believe it, until they found his burned parachute in the wreckage. Despite free-falling at roughly 195 km/h, he sustained little more than a sprained leg and a few minor burns! What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?

Well, not much, really.

 

That said, Woody’s working on a Director, Business Development role based in Western Canada.The home office can be in Vancouver, Edmonton or Calgary. Our client is a well-established organization with decades of history and a strong track record of growth and stability.Reporting to senior sales leadership, the Director of Business Development plays a critical role in driving new business and revenue growth. This position is ideal for a strategic sales professional who excels in long-cycle, consultative selling. You’ll focus on expanding market presence in facilities and operational services, developing strong partnerships, and influencing how clients engage with a growing national provider in the sector.

 

POSITION:     DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT LOCATION:    VANCOUVER, EDMONTON OR CALGARY (HOME OFFICE) INDUSTRY:     FACILITY SERVICES RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Own and manage the entire sales process – from early market development and prospecting through to proposal development, contract negotiation, and closing

·         Secure new business opportunities across sectors such as public institutions, healthcare, commercial property, and other large-scale environments

·         Promote a comprehensive range of facility support services, including cleaning, maintenance, food operations, and remote site solutions

·         Represent the organization at key industry functions and in discussions with regulatory and community stakeholders to enhance brand presence

·         Contribute to high-level sales planning, offering strategic input to guide business development priorities

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

·         5+ years’ experience in B2B solution sales, ideally in facilities management, outsourcing, or related service industries

·         Demonstrated success managing complex, consultative sales cycles of 6 to 12 months … or longer

·         Strong hunter mindset with the ability to create, drive, and close net-new opportunities

·         Excellent internal collaboration skills and the ability to pull in subject matter experts as needed

·         Valid driver's license and ability to travel across the region up to 70%

·         Self-motivated and comfortable operating independently in a fully remote role

 

REMUNERATION:

 

BASE SALARY: $110,000 – $120,000

BONUS: $20,000

ALL-IN: $130,000 – $140,000 OTHER: car allowance + gas card or mileage, benefits, vacation, etc.
