There’s a term for people who have an irrational fear of numbers – it’s called ‘arithmophobia’.

We’ve all heard of superstitions that exist with the number 13 (unlucky) or say, 666 (the sign of the devil).

However, true ‘arithmophobes’ fear all kinds of numbers – especially complex math equations! And … if you’re an ‘arithmophobe’ this definitely is NOT the position for you!

So, what does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?

That said, while you're here, Woody’s looking for a Finance Manager for a wildly successful quick service restaurant brand in Toronto. The Finance Manager will oversee day-to-day financial operations and support franchisee billing, collections, and reporting. This is a hands-on role suited for a Senior Bookkeeper ready to step into a broader finance position, with a clear path toward Controller – over time.

You will manage core accounting activities, franchisee invoicing, royalty tracking, and operational finance tasks while working closely with ownership and an external accounting firm. The role also includes regular interaction with franchise owners, so communication and relationship-building are important. POSITION:    FINANCE MANAGER LOCATION:   DURHAM REGION (HYBRID)

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Manage day-to-day finance operations and maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks

·         Maintain trial balance and prepare basic income statements

·         Support monthly close and financial reporting

·         Perform bank reconciliations using RBC Express

·         Process EFT and ACH payments

·         Reconcile corporate credit cards

·         Manage franchisee invoicing and royalty collection

·         Track monthly franchise payments and recurring revenue streams

·         Handle vendor payments and light AP / AR responsibilities

·         Resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues

·         Track quarterly manufacturer rebates

·         Reconcile multi-unit franchise payments

·         Communicate directly with franchise owners regarding billing and payments

·         Support revenue tracking and operational finance reporting

·         Work with external accounting firm on financial information and reporting

·         Participate in occasional franchisee meetings or events

REQUIREMENTS

·         3+ years of accounting or finance experience

·         Senior Bookkeeper or hands-on accounting background

·         QuickBooks experience (preferred)

·         Comfortable working in a small, team-oriented environment

·         Strong attention to detail and organization

·         Good communication skills with non-finance stakeholders

·         Experience supporting recurring revenue or multi-unit business is an asset

·         No degree required

REMUNERATION

SALARY: $60,000

PERFORMANCE BONUS: up 10% ($6,000)

OTE: $66,000SALARY: $70,000 – $90,000 WORK MODEL: Hybrid (approx. 3 days in office) HOURS: Monday–Friday, 9–5 OTHER: benefits + vacation + cell phone allowance
