Long before giant soda cups ruled gas stations, 19th-century Americans were falling for a surprisingly similar trick – free lunch saloons.

 

It’s the 1870s. You stroll into a bustling city bar. A sign promises a free lunch. And it’s not some skimpy snack – it’s meat, bread, cheese, pickles, all laid out on a plate. Your stomach says yes. Your wallet says, “I’ll wait.”

 

But here’s the catch: to get your “free” lunch, you must buy at least one drink. And the food? Salted so well that one sip of water (or one more drink) quickly feels necessary. One drink becomes two. Two becomes three. Suddenly, that free lunch cost far more than if you’d just paid for the meal!

 

Bar owners weren’t being shady … they were being strategic. They knew humans respond to big portions, salty food, and easy access. Sound familiar? It’s basically the Big Gulp, just with whiskey instead of soda.

 

The lesson: sometimes the bigger, cheaper option isn’t free – it’s a clever way to make you consume more. And history shows, we’re just as predictable today as we were over a hundred years ago! What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?

That said, while we have your attention, Jeanne Agius is looking for an Inside Sales Rep in Mississauga. Our client is a leading distributor of industrial and aftermarket parts, supporting customers across material handling, construction, and industrial equipment markets throughout Canada. The ISR will drive revenue with existing customers across Western Canada (BC, AB, SK, MB). No cold calling. Own accounts end-to-end, grow business through needs-based selling, and keep CRM up to date. POSITION:    INSIDE SALES REP (EXISTING CLIENTS) LOCATION:   MISSISSAUGA

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Drive growth and retention with existing Western Canada accounts.

·         Research accounts and use consultative calls to uncover opportunities.

·         Increase order frequency and online platform adoption.

·         Own accounts end-to-end, maintaining CRM and tracking KPIs.

·         Collaborate with teams and deliver high-quality customer service.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

·         2+ years inside sales experience.

·         Proactive, persistent, growth-focused with a hunter mentality.

·         Comfortable with daily outbound calls and strategic account research.

·         Parts or technical sales experience a plus; industry experience helpful.

·         Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills.

 

REMUNERATION

 

SALARY: $65,000 – $75,000

COMMISSION: 15%ON-TARGET EARNINGS: $85,000 – $95,000
