While they were students in Stanford’s PhD program, Larry Page and Sergey Brin used government grants to build an algorithm that would become the foundation of Google’s search engine.

After graduation, the grants ran out – but they secured $1 million from angel investors. (A lot of money at the time, but not much for a growing tech company.)

Even with a promising product, they struggled to generate revenue. In 1999, they offered to sell Google to Excite CEO George Bell for $1 million. Bell said no. They lowered the price to $750,000 – but still no deal.

Shortly after, Google received a $25 million investment and remained privately owned until 2004. By the IPO, Google was worth $23 billion. In just five years, Larry and Sergey went from trying to sell for $1 million to leading one of the world’s most valuable tech companies. What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role? Nothing at all. But, while we’ve your attention, George Stankovic is looking for a Security Operations Manager in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, who will lead security operations at a major industrial facility. This role oversees daily site operations, manages and develops security personnel, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and delivers exceptional client service while meeting operational and financial goals. POSITION:      SECURITY OPERATIONS MANAGER (CLIENT-SITE) LOCATION:    FORT SASKATCHEWAN, ALBERTA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Supervise day-to-day security operations for the assigned industrial site

·         Manage team of security officers + site/shift supervisors: hiring, scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, and development

·         Ensure high-quality security services to protect people, property, and assets

·         Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and employees

·         Coordinate support services to meet or exceed operational and financial objectives

·         Support security team on all HSE matters, including incident investigations and promoting a safety culture

·         Develop and implement security policies, programs, and contingency plans to minimize risk

·         Host security awareness training sessions and manage investigations for site incidents

·         Conduct mid-year and end-of-year performance evaluations for the security team

·         Provide emergency response services and coordinate activities during site-wide emergencies

REQUIREMENTS:

·         Valid Alberta Security Worker License (or ability to obtain one)

·         2+ years of security managerial experience

·         Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract

·         Proven ability to hire, develop, motivate, and retain high-performing teams

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills for client and team interactions

·         Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively

·         Familiarity with security systems and technology is beneficial

·         Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
