In 1958, engineer Wilson Greatbatch was wiring a heart rhythm recorder when he reached for a resistor – like grabbing a spice while cooking. But instead of a small pinch, he added a full cup.

He used a 1-megaohm resistor instead of 10,000 ohms – representing a difference of 100 times. The circuit didn’t record heartbeats. It created one: a steady electrical pulse, just like a real heartbeat.

That wrong part led to the first implantable pacemaker. Within two years, it was keeping a human heart beating and would go on to save millions of lives around the world.

All because of one wrong grab from the parts box! What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role? Absolutely nothing.
