GREED’S TRAP

In 1986, wanted by police for 50 armed robberies, Valerio Viccei fled Italy, and arrived in London, England. The next year, he, and his accomplice, Parvez Latif walked into the KSDC and asked to rent a safe deposit box.

Once inside the vault, the men pulled out their pistols and overpowered the bank manager and his guards. They hung a ‘closed’ sign on the front door, while they ushered a few waiting accomplices into the bank.

Ransacking the vault, the thieves fled with an estimated £60 million (nearly $200 million (USD) by today’s standards).  Viccei then hopped on the next plane to South America – his riches in tow!

While in South America, Viccei began to yearn for the Ferrari Testarossa he had left behind in England. So much so that he decided to return to London to make arrangements to ship his car to his new home.

Needless to say – it wasn’t the best idea he ever had.

Upon returning to the UK, he was recognized and arrested – and sentenced to 22 years in jail!

Long story short, he was deported to Italy in 1992 to serve the rest of his sentence. In April 2000, while on a day pass from prison, he met his demise – in a gunfight with police.

What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role?

That said, while you’re here, Mate Pavkovic’s client is seeking a Commercial Real Estate & Lending Paralegal with 5+ years of experience supporting commercial lending and real estate transactions. The firm offers a collaborative and modern work environment with a strong emphasis on client service, accountability, and efficiency.

POSITION:    PARALEGAL (COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE & LENDING) LOCATION:   EDMONTON, ALBERTA INDUSTRY:   LEGAL

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Manage a high volume of commercial lending files, including physical and electronic filing, diary management, and tracking closing dates

·         Prepare and organize reporting documentation for completed transactions

·         Conduct and obtain searches, and complete registrations/filings with Land Titles, Personal Property, Corporate, and Tax Registries

·         Draft, assemble, and organize commercial lending and purchase/sale documentation

·         Prepare and distribute monthly account statements to clients

·         Edit and format correspondence and legal documents with a high degree of accuracy

·         Provide administrative support as required

REQUIREMENTS

·         Completion of a Legal Assistant or Paralegal program

·         5–10 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate and lending

·         Strong client service skills

·         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

·         Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

·         Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems
