LAWN CHAIR LARRY ($110,000 – $180,000+)

On July 2, 1982, Larry Walters, an American truck driver with an unquenchable desire to take flight, hatched an eccentric scheme. He connected 42 weather balloons to a simple lawn chair in his girlfriend’s backyard in San Pedro, California and armed himself with a pellet gun, some sandwiches and a CB radio.

With the balloons secured to his chair, Larry cut the anchor line, expecting to ascend only a few feet above ground. However, the balloons quickly propelled him skyward at an astonishing rate – reaching heights of up to 16,000 feet within minutes!

As he grappled with his situation, Larry pulled out his pellet gun and popped some of the balloons in a desperate bid to descend safely. Eventually, he touched down (without harm) having been spotted by both commercial airline pilots and authorities.

He landed in a Long Beach neighborhood, where he was promptly apprehended by the authorities.

POSITION:         PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER LOCATION:        TORONTO INDUSTRY:        LEGAL SERVICES

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Manage a full caseload of plaintiff-side personal injury files from intake through resolution

·         Conduct client meetings, provide legal advice, and maintain strong client relationships

·         Draft pleadings, motion materials, and settlement documentation

·         Attend discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, and court appearances as required

·         Negotiate settlements with insurers and opposing counsel

·         Collaborate with support staff and other lawyers to advance files efficiently

·         Ensure all files are managed in accordance with timelines and court requirements

REQUIREMENTS

·         Licensed to practice law in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

·         3+ years of experience in plaintiff personal injury litigation

·         Strong advocacy, negotiation, and litigation skills

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Ability to manage multiple files independently in a fast-paced environment

·         Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

REMUNERATION SALARY RANGE: $110,000 – $180,000 + bonus
