In 1983, a 61-year-old Australian potato farmer named Cliff Young showed up at the start line of the Sydney to Melbourne Ultramarathon … an 875-kilometre race known for breaking even elite runners.
Everyone else looked like athletes while Cliff showed up in overalls and gumboots. People genuinely thought he was lost and a few even laughed.
Right before the start, Cliff pulled out his dentures and tucked them into his pocket. He didn’t like the way they rattled when he ran.
The race plan at the time was simple: run hard for 18 hours, sleep for the next 6 hours … and repeat. (That’s how the pros managed it).
Cliff didn’t know that so, when the gun went off, he just started moving – and he didn’t stop. Day turned into night, and night into day. While others slept, Cliff kept shuffling forward, step after step, on hot chocolate and water.
Five and a half days later, he crossed the finish line in first place.
And, not just first – Cliff Young he beat the record by about 12 hours! What does this have to do with Match and Fable’s latest role? Absolutely nothing. That said, while you’re here … Iva Frankovic is seeking an experienced Distribution Manager to take full operational ownership of a large-scale food-grade 3PL distribution center in Bolton supporting 8 to 12 customer accounts.
This role is responsible for the overall performance of the operation, including staffing, service levels, workflow, productivity, compliance and day-to-day execution across all shifts.
