In 1982, engineer Lonnie Johnson was testing a new heat pump in his bathroom when a blast of water shot across the room. While it was a total accident, Lonnie instantly saw the potential.

 

He sketched a prototype, refined it, and kept pushing (even after multiple toy companies said no).

 

In 1990, the Super Soaker launched.

It would generate over $1 billion in sales and became one of the bestselling water guns in history!

That said, while we have your attention, Mate Pavkovic is looking for a Trademark Associate for our client – one of the world’s leading intellectual property (IP) firms, offering comprehensive expertise in patents, trademarks, designs, and copyright.

 

With a global network of offices across Canada, the UK, Europe, and Asia, they assist clients of all sizes (from start-ups to multinational corporations) in securing and managing their intellectual property worldwide. TRADEMARK ASSOCIATE – TORONTO, ON THE GIG (IN 9 LINES OR LESS):

  • Join one of the world’s leading IP firms with a global footprint.

  • Support major trademark portfolios for high-profile clients across diverse industries.

  • Advise on clearance, prosecution, and portfolio strategy.

  • Work on related agreements and trademark management tasks.

  • Assist with enforcement: oppositions, cancellations, infringement actions.

  • Conduct legal + technical research, as needed.

  • Collaborate with a sharp, fast-moving legal team.

  • Exposure to complex, international IP matters.

  • Clear path to deepen expertise in trademark law.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 2 – 4 years focused on trademark clearance + prosecution.

  • Exposure to enforcement work (asset, not required).

  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Highly organized + effective in an electronic environment.

  • Professional, responsive, positive demeanor.

  • Law degree + licensed to practice in ON + Federal Court.

  • Trademark Agent designation (asset).

COMPENSATION:

  • Commensurate with experience

  • Full benefits after 90 days
