WALLY ($50,000 – $65,000)

On June 2, 1925, the New York Yankees were on a five-game losing streak and their miserable record had them slotted in second-to-last place in the American League. Upon arriving at Yankee Stadium, one of their star players – Wally Pipp, was complaining about a headache and asked the team trainer for 2 aspirins.

The team’s manager, Miller Huggins happened to overhear the discussion and said … "Wally, take the day off … we'll try that kid Gehrig at first today and get you back in there tomorrow."

This would mark the first game of Lou Gehrig's career, and he would go on to play an incredible 2,130 consecutive games over the next 14 seasons!  Wally never got his job back.

Years later, Wally would go on to say … "I took the two most expensive aspirin in history.”

That said, Woody’s working on a General Manager role in the QSR space in Toronto!His client’s business is growing by leaps and bounds, and they are looking for a leader to help them on this trajectory.

POSITION:     GENERAL MANAGER LOCATION:    TORONTO RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Hire, train, motivate, and retain a high-performing team aligned with our brand values.

·         Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensure compliance with food safety, health regulations, and cleanliness standards.

·         Ensure the food experience is delivered with consistency and care.

·         Own guest satisfaction – turn complaints into delight, maintain warm hospitality, and enforce service standards.

·         Oversee cash handling, labour, and cost controls. Maintain accurate financial records and metrics.

·         Leverage POS systems for ordering, inventory, reporting, and performance insights.

·         Monitor stock levels, coordinate with suppliers, reduce waste, and manage purchasing.

·         Implement local marketing initiatives and community events to drive traffic.

·         Conduct regular inspections of cleanliness, organization, and brand standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

·         2+ years’ experience managing in a QSR, fast casual, or similar hospitality environment.

·         Proven ability to lead teams – recruit, develop, coach, motivate.

·         Strong knowledge of food handling, safety, and operational best practices.

·         Skilled with POS systems, financial controls, inventory management, and data‑driven decision making.

·         Passion for hospitality, consistency, and uplifting brand experience.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication.

·         Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

·         Valid Driver’s Licence (required).

·         Safe Food Handling Certificate (preferred).

REMUNERATION:

BASE SALARY: $50,000 – $65,000 OTHER: benefits + vacation + bonus plan
